Good Friday

Or 'Best Friday..... EVER!", as Lisa and Rick would describe it!

One of my dearest friends was married to the love of her life yesterday, and I am so extremely excited for the two of them! They exchanged vows in the company of their beautiful families in a quiet, simple, very intimate ceremony, and I am honored to have been a part of it.

These two gentle souls are a perfect match, and I wish them nothing but a lifetime of love and laughs with each other. Congratulations Lisa and Rick!

Cheers!

Fabulous Filters

Here's just a little sumpin-sumpin, from my handy-dandy DMC-TS5. Have I mentioned lately that I absolutely love that camera? It has got to be one of the coolest point'n'shoots out there. Both of these pics were taken using the "Impressive Art" in-camera filter. How fun!

Lately, the compact Panasonic is my go-to camera - it is the second one in the DMC-TS series that I've owned (I started out with a TS3, and no, there was nothing wrong with it!). The TS5 is small, and the durability and excellent image quality make taking it everywhere a no-brainer! Not to mention it is waterproof to thirty-odd feet, and completely functional in temperatures down to minus 15 degrees C or so. I seriously challenge being able to beat it!

I'm always on the lookout for new gear however... And I get bored easily... So I'm sure by the time my next post rolls around, there will be something different in my kit that I will be excited to show off the results from!

Cheers!

Ten Months

Ten months. That's how long it has been since I've updated this blog. Tsk!

If it is any consolation, I update my travel and 'fun stuff' blog on a regular basis - feel free to check it out!

This year has been nothing less than exciting, and I have taken literally thousands of photos on my journeys. Since January 2013, I've been to Cuba, Maui, Seattle, the Yukon, and Central Europe, as well as spent time in the Shuswap (BC) and Canmore (right here in Alberta!). Hence many of the pics are from my very own shenanigans rather than from other people's life events.

I'm thinking that it will likely continue to be that way, because I love photography and definitely enjoy it the most when I'm recording the adventures of yours truly!

Cheers!

Winter Wonderland

I live in a climate that is about a 70/30 split - winter/summer. I absolutely LOVE summer, however until I become independently wealthy and can move somewhere much closer to the equator, I am forced to tolerate the weather which is bestowed upon us for almost three-quarters of the year. Fortunately (if you look on the bright side), snow and frost can make for some of the most beautiful photos!

Groovy Clouds - Norquay
All-Day Frost - Lake Louise
I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season, and I wish you all the best in the upcoming year!

Thanks so much for following my blog.

Cheers,
Cheryle

Partying with the Panasonic!

Mmmmmm, Panasonic - every camera I've had, which has been made by that company, is completely awesome. So I'm not surprised to be uber happy with my recently purchased Lumix DMC-TS3.

The results have been so pleasing in fact, that on my recent trip to Spain, I traveled solely with my two Panasonics (sorry, Pentax!). I left the SLR's at home and wandered around much of the land with the TS3 in my pocket. Loved it!!

People, landscapes, indoors - you name it and I used the DMC-TS3 to photograph it. I even dropped the poor thing, from a decent height none the less (d'oh!!), and true to its word it continued to work just fine. The cold doesn't seem to phase it either... I had it with me at the ski hill the other day.

The subsequent test will be to see how it fares in the water / under water. I'll be in Cancun next week, and then I'm traveling to Houston and perhaps on to Central America in early April, so some ocean time is likely in the TS3's future. I will keep you posted!

Cheers!
